Meteors 'n' Smores

Saturday, August 12, 2017

On Saturday, August 12, 2017, come out to Rockport State Recreation Area and enjoy an evening of meteor watching, s'more eating, and star gazing!

Starting at 8:45 pm at Rockport Harbor everyone is invited to participate in a “Twilight Yoga” session with Sam Samson.

As skies darken, view the Perseids Meteor Showers. Astronomy instructors from the Besser Museum for Northeast Michigan will be on hand to talk about how meteor showers happen, give a constellation tour, and talk about all things astronomy!

Remember to bring blankets, seating, bug spray and snacks to enjoy the show.

A Recreation Passport is required and is available in the Rockport Harbor boat launch area or at the gate. For details call Hoeft State Park 989-734-2543 or the Friends of Rockport Facebook page.

Before the night starts, visit the Besser Museum's digital, full-dome, planetarium. Show times on Saturday, August 12th are 11am, 1pm, or 3pm (planetarium tickets: $5)

Our mission is to collect, preserve, interpret, and exhibit authentic articles and artifacts of art, history, and science to
