What: Celebrate International Dark Sky Week with a star party. Kickoff at the Besser Museum with 2 planetarium shows.

1st showing: 6:30 pm
2nd showing: 7:30 pm

Cost: $5 per seat.  Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Besser Museum.  Call 989-356-2202 for details.

Where:

Gather at 6:30pm at the Besser Museum for Northeast Michigan (491 Johnson Street, Alpena, Michigan 49707)

 

Weather permitting, at 8:30-9:00pm, gather at Rockport Harbor picnic area, Rockport State Recreation Area to view the night sky.  Planetarium Director, John Heath, will point out visible constellations and answer questions.  There will be telescopes to view details in the night sky. 

PEAKING THIS EVENING IS THE LYRID METEOR SHOWER. Jupiter will also be in view.

A bonfire and s’mores will be provided.
