In part 2 of our November Full STEAM Ahead Free Family Discovery Days, we present: Solar System 2.0: Small, but Mighty!  Come learn about the smaller things in life: dwarf planets, moons, comets, & asteroids.  With unique hands-on activities for everyone of all ages and abilities, you’ll explore the inner workings of a comet, how we find meteorites, and more.  You can also enjoy a free planetarium show about these solar system objects as part of your time at the Besser Museum.

What it's all about:

Besser Museum’s “Full STEAM Ahead” Free Family Discovery Days are funded through a 2017 Alpena County Youth and Recreation grant.

The Besser Museum’s educational outreach department has developed six different educational programs themed to highlight Alpena’s community and heritage. The six Free Family Discovery Days will be based on the elements of STEAM (science and technology interpreted through engineering and the arts, all based in mathematical elements).

Through the utilization of the new digital dome planetarium theater and collaboration between museum staff, volunteers, and community partners, the whole family will enjoy participating in the “Full STEAM Ahead” hands-on learning activities.

The “Full STEAM Ahead” Free Family Discovery Programs will take place on September 9th, October 14th, November 4th, November 15th, December 9th, and December 28th. More information is available at www.bessermuseum.org.
