Besser Museum is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for our visitors, staff, and volunteers.  According to recent CDC reports, the level of community transmission for COVID-19 is high in the Alpena County area.

At this time, CDC recommends wearing masks indoors for both the vaccinated and unvaccinated to help prevent the spread of COVID - 19.

Besser Museum strongly encourages wearing masks while visiting the museum. Masks WILL BE REQUIRED  in the PLANETARIUM.  Masks will be provided if needed.

The Besser Museum for Northeast Michigan is EXTREMELY grateful to be a recipient of a $5,000 Michigan  Humanities H.O.P.E. grant to help with operational expenses. The H.O.P.E. grant is part of the Coronavirus Relief Act and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The grant helps non-profits cover a portion of their operational revenue lost due to COVID-19.  The Besser Museum is also grateful to be a recipient of a $2,500 Emergency Relief grant from Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs. These federal funds were provided to the Council by the National Endowment for the Arts and are to be used to cover salaries and facility costs impacted by COVID-19.

The Besser Museum is EXTREMELY  grateful to the Besser Foundation for generously supporting the mission of the Besser Museum and helping provide culturally enriching experiences to citizens living and visiting in Northeast Michigan.
