Besser Museum will be closed to the public starting November 24th through mid-January
(date to be determined) for the installation of the new Discover Northeast Michigan History Exhibit.
There will be NO Season of Light Exhibit this year.
The Museum will open on Sunday, December 1st, for the Thunder Bay Arts Council Christmas event which will take place in the Historic Village from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Field Trips are available starting Monday, April 18th through the end of June.
Museum Staff will work with teachers to design a museum field trip experience tailored for your student's need.

Besser Museum for Northeast Michigan is located at 491 Johnson Street, Alpena, Michigan. (Click for Directions using Google Maps)
Coming from the South follow US 23 through town. You will pass MidMichigan Medical Center on the right (East) as you come to the intersection of Johnson Street. Turn right (East). Besser Museum is on the left (North) about 1/4 mile from the intersection.
Coming from the West on M-32 follow it into town to the junction of US 23 (Chisholm Street). Turn left (North). Follow US 23 through town. You will pass MidMichigan Medical Center on the right (East) as you come to the intersection of Johnson Street. Turn right (East). Besser Museum is on the left (North) about 1/4 mile from the intersection.
How long does it take to go through the museum?
On average, it takes about an hour. It also depends on the type of patron you are. If you enjoy reading the signs and literature, you may want to allow a couple hours.
