Alpena's Service in the Great War, by the Northeast Michigan Genealogical Society.

This text is the history of a small town in Northeast Michigan and its response to the Great War.  An interesting glimpse of the pre-war attitude and how the community pulled together to take care of the boys when the war was declared.  Community members made many sacrifices, both those imposed by the government and the individual contributions of the men, women, and children.  Over 600 military biographies of veterans included.
