Besser Museum will be closed to the public starting November 24th through mid-January
(date to be determined) for the installation of the new Discover Northeast Michigan History Exhibit.
There will be NO Season of Light Exhibit this year.
The Museum will open on Sunday, December 1st, for the Thunder Bay Arts Council Christmas event which will take place in the Historic Village from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

John Heath
Planetarium Instructor
John retired as a teacher for the Alpena Public Schools as has operated Besser Museum’s planetarium for the past twelve years. John holds a Bachelor in Secondary Teaching and a Masters in School Administration from Central Michigan University.
As a Museum Planetarium Instructor, John helps organize and supervise public astronomy activities. He assists with presenting planetarium presentations to thousands of school students annually, along with regular public programs. John is a member of the Great Lakes Planetarium Association.
